A well-established and growing group of companies operating in the maritime services sector is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join its finance team in Limassol. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the group, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient financial processes while contributing to the continuous improvement of internal procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting operations and ensure accurate data entry within the accounting system
- Process and review accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and supporting documentation
- Prepare financial reports and assist with financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and relevant regulations
- Assist with VAT submissions, tax documentation, and regulatory filings
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing required information
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve invoicing, accounting, and payment discrepancies
- Contribute to process improvements and accounting system enhancements
- Perform additional accounting and finance-related duties as required
Required qualifications, capabilities & skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2–4 years of previous experience in an accounting or finance role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end procedures
- Knowledge of VAT and basic tax compliance requirements will be considered an advantage
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
