We are partnering with a leading maritime services organization to recruit a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join their growing finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining accounting records, and supporting the organization's financial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a group of companies, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities
- Prepare and reconcile bank accounts, supplier and customer ledgers, and other balance sheet accounts
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform reconciliations of sales, expenses, accounts receivable, and accounts payable balances across ERP systems (such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central), investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Prepare financial reports and provide management with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity reporting
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and coordinate with external auditors during audit processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
- Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and enhancements to accounting systems
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient financial operations and accurate financial reporting
Required qualifications, capabilities & skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 2–3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role
- ACA, ACCA, or another relevant professional qualification (completed or in progress) will be considered an asset
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Excellent analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar platforms will be considered an advantage
- Fluency in both Greek and English, both written and spoken
